Indigenous Bamboo Culture for Sustainable Living

Bamboos are of notable economic and cultural significance in our region mainly in Tasikmalaya West Java Indonesia, as a food source and as a versatile raw product.

Bamboo has developed the reputation for being most renewable material for several reasons. It grows at a surprisingly rapid rate (about 1 inch every 40 minutes) and can be harvested in 3-7 years, which is much faster than traditional hardwoods. Bamboo is also easily recyclable and compost-friendly! Throughout its entire life cycle, this grass provides endless benefits to the environment, to manufacturers, and to consumers. Another key benefit of using bamboo is that it is naturally very strong and durable. The material has been used for centuries in many different industries, including furniture, textiles, home décor, and musical instruments. It has higher compressive strength than wood, brick or concrete and is known to be as rigid as steel. Bamboo can withstand heat up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Our company, Kiwari Bamboe, was born out of a love for bamboo and a desire to preserve the ancestral culture of using bamboo. We process bamboo into modern & stylish products and benefit the wider community.
